According to Prophet Muhammad’s PBUH interpretation; Those who read Surah Al-Kahf on Fridays will be enlightened for the entire week (al-Jaami) to follow. Additionally, the one who recites Surah Al-Kahf and memorizes. It will be protected against the Dajjal and forgiven his sins from Friday to Friday (al-Mundhiri). In these narratives, it is evident why reading Surah Al-Kahf is so important.
During ancient times, the message of truth reached the followers of the Quran through Surah al Kahf. The 18th Surah of the Quran. Nevertheless, their society would retaliate against them. So they fled and sought protection in a cave where Allah Almighty gave them a sleep that lasted for centuries. The entire city had embraced Islam by this time.
Nevertheless, let’s take a closer look at one of the stories in Surah Al Kahf so that we may leave this article with a piece of wisdom. It concerns the man who had two beautiful gardens. He had an impressive profile and was very wealthy and successful. Furthermore, he owned fields of grapes that were protected by date trees. In ancient times, dates and grapes were considered valuable commodities. The gardens were not only beautiful, but Allah SWT also created rivers within the gardens, so he didn’t need to rely on rain. Furthermore, this man not only owned two fields with flowing rivers, but he owned horses and carriages, had children, and he owned other businesses. This was an ideal setup. However, how did this wealth affect him?
A similar hadith describes the recitation of Surah al Kahf on Friday night:
“Whoever reads Surah al Kahf on the day of Jummah will have a light that will shine from him from one Friday to the next.” (al-Jaami)
So on Friday evenings, a Muslim must devote time to reading Surah al Kahf and become one of the blessed ones by doing so.
What is the best time to read:
On Friday night or day, we are to recite the Surah. This will take place between sunset on Thursday and sunset on Friday.
“According to al-Shafi’i (may Allah have mercy on him), it is recommended to read it during the day or night of Jumu’ah.” (Fayd al-Qadir, 6/198)
Insha’Allah, now that we have seen the enormous benefits and the importance of reading Surah on Fridays, let’s make sure that we follow this practice every Friday and encourage others to do so, too.
