CM Punjab Introduces Free WiFi Hotspots in Lahore

The Chief Minister of Punjab has introduced a great plan to bring free WiFi hotspots to 50 important spots across the Lahore city. 

“Free WiFi has begun at these 50 places in Lahore. We are working on the rest of Lahore too. Alhamdulillah! We make promises and keep them,” CM Maryam stated in an X post. 

This initiative is a great effort to promote connectivity and ensure everyone has access to the internet. It was first started in the Nawaz Sharif era, but due to unpaid bills in the PTI government, these services were stopped. But now, the CM of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz, has started this facility again. Lahore is getting back free Wi-Fi services.

This project aims to help people get better internet access. Additionally, CM Maryam Nawaz expressed his satisfaction with how it’s going. In her address to people, she makes sure to extend the service to the entire city.

Before launching this project, Chief Minister held a detailed discussion with the officials of the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB). The PITB will improve the current infrastructure to make sure the internet works efficiently. 

In 2013, Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited was handling this service, but now it’s overseen by the PITB.

Educational institutions, airports, railway stations, and bus stands are among the priority areas to get free WiFi hotspots services. Moreover, this project has plan to operate in a total of 516 locations in Lahore. 

Along with this project, CM Punjab has started a lot of other projects for the well-being and prosperity of the people.

This initiative brings back the free WiFi services that were initially introduced in 2013 but later stopped due to unpaid bills. Now PTIB is leading this project on CM’s order. They ensure the managing and operation of this service efficiently.
