Pakistan’s resolution against the desecration of the Holy Quran was approved in the UN Security Council

The UN Security Council adopted a motion in favor of Pakistan against religious hatred burning the Holy Quran in Sweden.

Therefore, Western powers such as the US, the European Union and the United Kingdom opposed the resolution saying, “It was against their repugnant views on human rights and freedom of expression.”

However, up to 28 countries, including China, India, South Africa and Ukraine, voted in favor, 12 voted against seven abstained.

A further reported the Pakistan draft resolution condemns all expressions of religious hatred. They included public and deliberate acts of desecration of the Holy Quran and stresses. They need to hold those responsible to account.

 Rather, the report calls on states to enact laws to combat, prevent and prosecute acts and advocacy of religious hatred that incite discrimination, hostility, and violence.

In addition, Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari stands against hatred, discrimination and intolerance and promotes mutual respect and understanding.

 Unfortunately, Mr. Bilawal said the deliberate desecration of the Holy Quran continued under state sanction and immunity.

Mr. Bilawal says We must unite and condemn it. We need to quarantine those who incite hate. It is compulsory to the deep hurt that public and premeditated Quran desecration causes Muslims.

Mr. Bilawal called the desecration of the Holy Quran an attack on Islam. “It was reasonable and necessary to call for prevention and accountability in the draft submitted to the Council”. He said,

“He said freedom of expression is as essential as hated it need to be separated. “

“There is not a single Muslim country on earth that allows you to blaspheme the scriptures of other religions he said, adding that such a was unthinkable for Muslims.

Foreign Minister Retno added “provocative anger to Muslims around the world. We cannot hide behind free speech.”

On June 28, 37-year-old Sarwan Momika, who fled Iraq to Sweden several years ago, stepped on Islamic scriptures in Stockholm and set a few pages on fire.
