UN Security Council approved desecration of the Holy Quran
Pakistan’s resolution against the desecration of the Holy Quran was approved in the UN Security Council
The UN Security Council adopted a motion in favor of Pakistan against religious hatred burning the Holy Quran in Sweden.
Therefore, Western powers such as the US, the European Union and the United Kingdom opposed the resolution saying, "It was against their repugnant views on human rights and freedom of expression."
However, up to 28 countries, including China, India, South Africa and Ukraine, voted in favor, 12 voted against seven abstained.
A further reported the Pakistan draft resolution condemns all expressions of religious hatred. They included public and deliberate acts of desecration of the Holy Quran and stresses. They need to hold those responsible to account.
