Saudi Prince Salman to become the kingdom’s Prime Minister

King Salman bin Abdulaziz has announced prince Mohammed bin Salman as the new Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia. Saudi Arab’s King Salman bin Abdulaziz has issued a royal statement in which Prince Mohammed bin Salman (his son) has been selected as the Prime Minister of the country. This new announcement has shuffled the whole cabinet of ministers. Many new faces will now come up. Whereas some new positions are given to old faces as well. Prince Mohammed bin Salman was acting as the Defense Minister before the announcement. Clearly, after the announcement, the position of Defense Minister was vacant.

In a tweet by Saudi Press Agency (SPA) the announcement of Prince Mohammed bin Salman becoming the prime minister came public. However, there was even more shuffling of the ministries within the cabinet. The law has made certain changes to the overall cabinet of ministers. This includes appointments such as Prince Khalid bin Salman as Defense Minister. Moreover, Prince Turki bin Mohammed bin Fahad bin Abdul Aziz got the appointment as Minister of State. In another shuffle, Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki bin Faisal got the appointment as Minister of Sports. A new face came into the cabinet of ministers as Minister of Education, who is none other than Yousef Al Benyan.

There are many other ministers that are retaining their original positions such as:

  • Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman held his position as Minister of Energy
  • Prince Faisal bin Farhan held his position as Minister of Foreign Affairs
  • Khalid bin Abdulaziz Al Falih held his position as Minister of Investment
  • Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Nayef bin Abdulaziz held his position as Minister of Interior
  • Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Jadaan held his position as Minister of Finance.

After the announcement, the Crown Prince of Dubai congratulated Kingdom’s Prime Minister. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum extends his warm regards on Twitter. He wished the Prime Minister the best of luck and prayed for his success along with the prosperity of the Kindom.
