Different Religions Waiting For Their End Of Time Saviors

Across many religions around the world, there exists the concept of an end of time savior. A messianic figure who will usher in a time of peace, justice, and renewal. Here’s a look at some of the major religions and the saviors they await.

People from various religions around the world are eagerly anticipating the arrival of their spiritual leaders, known as end of time saviors. Each of these religious traditions has prophecies or teachings about a future figure who will bring justice, and peace to the world. Many believe that the arrival of their respective saviors will mark a new era of harmony and righteousness.

Some of the prominent ones are as follows.

Hinduism

Hindus have been waiting for Kalki Avtar for 3,700 years. Hindus believe in Kalki, the tenth and final avatar of the god Vishnu. At the end of the present Kali yuga (age), when virtue and dharma have disappeared and the world is ruled by the unjust. Kalkin will appear to destroy the wicked and usher in a new age. Hindus believe Kalki will arrive on a white horse, wielding a fiery sword, to purge the world of evil and usher in a new golden age, the Satya Yuga.

Buddhism

Buddhists have been waiting for Maitreya for 2,600 years. Presently a bodhisattva resides in the Tushita heave. He will descend to earth to preach anew the dharma (“law”) when the teachings of Gautama Buddha have completely decayed.

Judaism

Jews have been waiting for the Messiah for 2,500 years. A future Jewish king from the Davidic line, who is expected to save the Jewish nation. Their savior will be anointed with holy anointing oil and rule the Jewish people during the Messianic Age.

End Of Time Saviors In Christianity

Christians have been waiting for Jesus for 2,000 years. Jesus will return after his ascension to heaven. The idea is based on messianic prophecies and is part of most Christian eschatologies.

Sects Of Islam

Sunni Muslims have been waiting for the prophet Issa for 1,400 years. Allah (SWT) raised him to heaven from where he will descend at the end of time to rule the earth with the Shari`ah (Islamic law) of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). Hazrat Isa (AS) will come to bring an end to injustice and brutality brought by “Dajjal” (false messiah) on the world.

Shiite Muslims have been waiting for the Mahdi for 1,080 years. In Islamic eschatology, believers anticipate the appearance of a messianic figure, the Mahdi. He will emerge at the end of times to eradicate evil and injustice from the world. According to tradition, he descends from Muhammad (SAW) and will arise just before the prophet ʿĪsā (Jesus), leading Muslims to global leadership. According to their scholars, Allah has hidden him for around 1000 years and he will appear at the end of times.

End Of Time Saviors In Other Religions

Druze has been waiting for Hamza Ibn Ali for 1.000 years, founder of the Druze religion. He will appear on the day of judgment in his humanity and judge the world therein by sword and violence.

Other religions with a second coming include the over 4,000-year-old Zoroastrianism (Saoshyant final savior of the world and quencher of its evil). Taoism (Li Hong will appear at the end of the world cycle to rescue the chosen people).

Several religions adopt the idea of a ‘savior’, and believe that the world will remain full of evil until this savior comes and fills it with goodness and justice.

Each of these religions believes that it is the one true faith.
