Heroic Lady Cop Recommended for Police Medal in Pakistan

ASP Syeda Shehrbano Naqvi, a brave lady cop in Lahore, deserves a recommendation for Pakistan’s highest police medal, the Quaid-e-Azam Police Medal (QPM). The award is for her bravery in rescuing a woman from a mob attack. This incident, which took place in Lahore’s Ichra Bazaar, saw a woman targeted by a mob who claimed her dress, which had Arabic calligraphy, was offensive.

The Punjab Police of Pakistan has recommended Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Syeda Shehrbano Naqvi from Lahore’s Gulberg district for the prestigious Quaid-e-Azam Police Medal (QPM), recognizing her commendable act of bravery. However, this recommendation comes in light of the lady cop and her team’s courageous intervention to rescue a woman from a violent mob in Ichhra Market.

In a statement issued on X on Sunday night, IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar said. “ASP Syeda Shehrbano Naqvi, the brave SDPO of Gulberg Lahore, put her life in danger to rescue a woman from a violent crowd. For this heroic deed, the Punjab Police has recommended her name for the prestigious Quaid-e-Azam Police Medal (QPM), the highest gallantry award for law enforcement in Pakistan.”

The incident unfolded when a woman dining in Lahore’s Ichhra Bazar became the target of a verbal onslaught by a violent mob. The mob accused her of blasphemy due to Quranic verses printed on her attire. However, upon investigation by ASP Shehrbano and her team. However, it was found that there was no objectionable content on the woman’s clothing.

ASP Shehrbano, along with her team, displayed remarkable courage and professionalism in swiftly intervening to ensure the safety of the woman amidst the chaotic situation. However, their timely action prevented any untoward incident from occurring.

IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar commended ASP Shehrbano for her bravery, stating that she put her life at risk to rescue the woman from the violent crowd. The Quaid-e-Azam Police Medal is the highest gallantry award for law enforcement in Pakistan, and ASP Shehrbano’s recommendation reflects her exemplary service to uphold law and order.
