The French police arrested the attacker, a 25-year-old French citizen who had previously spent four years in prison for a violent crime, according to France’s interior minister. This all took place near a popular spot for tourists called Quai de Grenelle. The French Interior Minister, Gérald Darmanin, said the person who died was a tourist from Germany, and the two who got hurt are doing okay now.
The assailant specifically targeted a German couple, using a knife to fatally harm the man and a hammer to injure two others. After being arrested, the attacker expressed distress about Muslims dying, particularly in the Palestinian territories. He claimed that France was somehow involved, as stated by French Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin. During the attack, the assailant reportedly shouted “Allahu Akbar” (God is great). After, the attacker talked about being upset about Muslim people dying, especially in Palestine.
“This person was ready to kill others,” Minister Darmanin told reporters. The attacker was born in Neuilly-Sur-Seine, a suburb of Paris. He had been released from prison in 2020 and was under surveillance while receiving psychiatric treatment.

The incident occurred in the 15th district of Paris, and the police, with swift action, managed to subdue the attacker using a taser. The minister praised the officers for their quick response, emphasizing that their actions likely prevented further casualties.
