Pakistan Chief Selector Inzamam ul Haq Resigns: says PCB

In a surprising turn of events, Pakistan Chief Selector, Inzamam ul Haq, has stepped down from his position during the ongoing World Cup 2023. This decision comes after allegations emerged suggesting his involvement in a player management company. Inzamam addressed the situation, emphasizing the importance of thorough research before making accusations.

Inzamam ul Haq, the Pakistan Chief Selector of the cricket team, announced his resignation on Monday amidst the World Cup 2023 following allegations of his association with a player management company. The company in question is reportedly registered with the PCB. And Inzamam is believed to be a partner alongside prominent players like Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam.

This revelation sparked concerns regarding a potential conflict of interest, as the company is involved in securing contracts for players. Inzamam responded to the allegations, urging the PCB to conduct a thorough investigation. He asserted that he had no affiliations with the player-agent company.

Expressing his disappointment over the allegations, Inzamam, who previously held the same position from August 2016 to July 2019, offered his full cooperation with any inquiries conducted by the cricket board. He stated, “I told the board that if they had any doubts, they should investigate it.”

In response to the controversy, the PCB has taken action by establishing a five-member fact-finding committee. This development comes at a critical juncture for the Pakistan team. Which is currently teetering on the brink of elimination from the World Cup in India. The board has also come under scrutiny following the leakage of skipper Babar Azam’s private conversation with a high-ranking board official.

Only time will tell what the long-term consequences of Inzamam’s resignation will be. However, one thing is for sure: it is a major loss for Pakistani cricket.

The situation remains fluid, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
