Bobi, the World’s Oldest Dog, Passed Away at 31

Bobi, the world’s oldest dog, has died at the age of 31. He was a Portuguese Rafeiro do Alentejo, a breed known for its longevity. Bobi was born on May 11, 1992, at the Costa family’s farm in Conqueiros, Portugal. He lived his entire life on the farm, where he was beloved by the family and the community.

The world’s oldest dog, Bobi, has passed away at the grand age of 31 years and 165 days. Bobi, a special kind of dog called a Rafeiro do Alentejo. He held the famous Guinness World Record for being the oldest dog. He lived in Portugal with his family.

A kind veterinarian named Dr. Karen Becker shared the sad news on the internet. She met Bobi many times and said, “Even though he lived longer than any dog ever, his 11,478 days on Earth could never be enough for those who loved him.”

Bobi became the oldest living dog and the oldest dog ever in February. He broke a record that was almost 100 years old. Before Bobi, the oldest dog ever was Bluey from Australia, who lived to be 29 years and five months old before passing away in 1939.

Bobi’s super long life was confirmed by the pet database of the Portuguese government, looked after by the National Union of Veterinarians. We don’t yet know who will take over the title of the world’s oldest living dog.

Bobi’s Life

Bobi spent his whole life with the Costa family in a village called Conqueiros near the west coast of Portugal. He was born with three brothers and sisters, but the Costa family had too many animals, so they had to make a tough choice. They decided to let the other puppies go, but it managed to escape.

The Costa kids kept Bobi a secret from their parents until he was discovered and became a part of the family. They fed him the same food they ate. Except for a bit of a fright in 2018 when he suddenly had trouble breathing and had to go to the hospital, it had a pretty peaceful and happy life, according to Mr. Costa.

Mr. Costa, who was only eight years old when it joined the family, believed that the quiet and calm environment Bobi lived in was the key to his long life. But as he got older, Bobi had some trouble walking and his eyesight wasn’t as good.

Bobi wasn’t the only dog in the Costa family to live a long life. Bobi’s mom lived to be 18, and another dog in the family lived until 22.

Bobi will be remembered with love and will stay in the hearts of those who knew him. He was a very special dog indeed.
