WhatsApp all set to introduce multiple accounts on same device

WhatsApp is working on a new feature that will allow users to access more than one WhatsApp account from one device at a time. As per a report by WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is working on this multiple accounts support feature for Android users.

Meta’s messaging app, WhatsApp, is about to introduce a new feature that allows users to easily handle multiple accounts on one device.

Currently, WhatsApp lets you use a single account on different devices. But this update will let you have multiple accounts within one app and switch between them smoothly.

This innovation was discovered by the well-known WhatsApp feature tracking blog, WABetaInfo. Right now, this multi-account feature is only available in WhatsApp Business, but it’s expected to come to other versions soon.

As shown in a screenshot from WABetaInfo, WhatsApp will add a special menu that makes switching between accounts effortless.

Several other social media apps like Instagram, Discord, and Telegram already have similar features.

When a user logs into an extra account on their device. It will stay in their account list until they decide to sign out or remove it.

This will be especially useful for people who want to keep their personal and work-related WhatsApp accounts separate, even if they only have one device.

It’s unclear how WhatsApp will handle notifications from multiple accounts. There might be a discreet label indicating the account a message is from, but this is not confirmed.

The multi-account feature is still in development for WhatsApp Business. So it will take some time before it’s available to everyone.

Overall, this upcoming feature will provide more flexibility and convenience for those managing multiple WhatsApp accounts, simplifying communication and enhancing the user experience.

Other Benefits

This feature could let users separate their work-related chats from personal ones within a single app. According to the report, this separation offers privacy, better notification management, and easy switching between accounts without needing separate apps.

The feature is still in development and will be available for testing in a future app update for beta users.

There’s also a rumor that WhatsApp might introduce a new video messaging feature for Android and iOS users. Similar to voice notes, this feature would allow recording 60-second video messages. To use it, users would tap and hold the microphone icon until it turns into a video button, then record and send the video.
