Pakistan’s film industry is evolving and experimenting with different genres in recent times. This Eid Ul Azha, new movie “Teri Meri Kahaniyan” released worldwide. This movie is a collection of three stories directed by three different directors. It is safe to say that each director put their soul in their stories. Audience can feel the emotion and warmth of director’s perspective to the fullest.

Jin Mahal

This movie was directed by Nabeel Qureshi. The prominent cast includes Hira & Mani, Gul-e-Raana, and talented kids. Just like the quirky director, the story was a satirical take on real estate scams in Karachi, poverty and homelessness with a pinch of horror and comedy.

The story starts with a poor family that is seeing the consequences of the coronavirus. The man of the family lost his job along with his house and other amenities. Finding no other solution, they went to one deserted house that is apparently ‘Haunted’. After the relocation, the story took interesting twists and turns that the audience cant loses interest even for one second. The ending of this short story is interesting yet asking for more

Pasoori

Creator of many hit dramas, veteran actress and debutant director Marina Khan directed the second story of TMK. She cast Babar Ali, Ramsha Khan, Shahryar Munawwar, Saleem Sheikh, and other gorgeous actors in her rom-com short story. This story is claiming to have a season’s wedding song of the year. People are drooling over the looks of the main leads.

The story starts with Bride to be Ramsha getting a letter that she qualifies for the last round of the singing competition on her wedding day. Groom-to-be Shehryar tries his best to help her achieve her goal. The tension becomes confusion and turns out to be a hilarious yet stressful situation. Dialogues are so on point, actors have such a good timing that makes this story vibrant and enjoyable. The ending of this part is said to be women empowered but it has a touch of Bollywood ngl.

Ek Sau Taiswaan (123rd)

This is the most hyped-up plot of the story so far. Everyone was eager to watch this Nadeem Baig creation written by the controversial Khalil Ur Rehman Qamar. Everybody loves Mehwish Hayat on the big screen while fans were excited to see heartthrob Wahaj Ali’s Debut on the silver screen. Another prominent cast is Zahid Ahmed, Amna Ilyas, Khalid Anum, and other talented actors.

The story starts with a shot of a train bogey, showing different families and people traveling together to reach their destination. In one sleeper, Sadaf (Mehwish) along with other passengers are sitting. After a few stops, Asad (Wahaj) comes and sits right in front of her. Sadaf is in a bad marriage as her husband (Afaq) is cheating on her. Moreover, Asad being a sleazy man hits on her to get her attention as well.

The most interesting part of this story is its deep dialogues and expressions of the performers. Every character sits so well and builds a story that is so relatable yet has a lesson not taught often. However, the ending will leave you speechless and question your relationships adamantly.

Final Verdict on ‘Teri Meri Kahaniyan’

Pakistan’s film industry has not seen such a kind movie in a long time. The movie is attracting an audience and all the shows are going ‘Houseful’. As a viewer of the film, I liked all three stories. Every story was different and a fresh take on life and society.

The monologue of Mani was heart-wrenching, at the same time comic timings of Babar Ali were spot on. Mehwish’s dialogues were thought-provoking, at the same time Zahid Ahmed’s depiction of a cheating husband was very convincing. There were flaws obviously, like a lousy sequence on Pasoori, or some unnecessary songs, etc. However, they can be neglected as Pakistan needs to revive the Lollywood.

The final verdict is everyone should go and watch the ‘Teri Meri Kahaniyan’ movie in the cinema. So grab a ticket asap and learn something you have not learned until now.
