7th July 2023 will be observed as ‘Yaum-e-Taqaddus-e-Quran’

The government would observe Yaum-e-Taqaddus-e-Quran on July 7 to hold countrywide protests against the desecration of the Holy Quran in Sweden and convene a joint parliamentary session on Thursday.

Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, also the president of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, instructed the party to participate in the Yaum-e-Taqaddus-e-Quran and hold countrywide rallies. He told the meeting that the sanctity of the Holy Quran was a part of the Muslims’ belief for which all of them were united.

“Speaking with one voice, the whole nation will give a message to the evil minds,” said the premier. He added that the nation will observe the “Youm-e-Taqaddus Quran” on Friday.

In addition to this, the premier decided to convene a joint session of parliament to devise a national strategy over the Sweden incident.

“The sentiments and feelings of the nation should be fully expressed through the forum of parliament,” the PM added. The joint session will unanimously pass a resolution against the recent incident of desecration of the holy book in Sweden.

He believed that the violent mindset targeting religion, sacred personalities, beliefs, and ideologies were the enemies of world peace. He said that the forces believing in peace and interfaith harmony should play their role at the international level to get rid of such negative trends.

On Eid Ul Azha, a man from Sweden hurts the sentiments of Muslims by setting the Holy Quran on fire. After the sad incident, Muslims around the world are putting protests and rallying against the protagonist.

United Nations in action

The act drew strong criticism from several countries. Including Pakistan, Turkiye, Jordan, Palestine, Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Iraq and Iran, as well as the European Union. United Nations has called an urgent meeting on the burning of the Holy Quran outside a mosque in Sweden in light of a request from Pakistan.

Earlier, several nations called on Scandinavian nations to take measures against Islamophobia. Some countries even recalled the envoy to Sweden. And expressed strong condemnation of the attack and its rejection of this unacceptable act.
