Since the trailer release, ‘Adhipursh’ is in hot waters for so many reasons. After a lot of changes and improved VFX, the movie was released last week. First, the fans, and now Nepal is demanding a ban on a controversial dialogue.
Adhipursh is Om Raut’s mythological movie based on Ramayana. Shot simultaneously in Telugu and Hindi, the film stars Prabhas, Saif Ali Khan, Kriti Sanon, Sunny Singh and Devdatta Nage. Despite of high end cast and lovable storyline, this movie is not well recieved. Since the trailer, fans are pointing out mistakes and blunders in this mega project. Fans are not happy with poor VFX, costumes, inaccuracy, and cringe dialogues.
Starting with Saif’s 10 heads as he depicts the villain Ravan. The VFX is so poor that fans are calling it pathetic and obnoxious. They are preferring the Japanese version of Ramayana instead of this multi-millionaire movie. In India, Valmiki’s Sanskrit poem Ramayana remains the most influential. A comic book version and a 1980s TV adaptation of the epic were also hugely popular in the country.
The Ramayana depicts the victory of Hindu god Ram over the demon king Ravana after the latter kidnaps his wife, Sita. In the film, the main characters are called Raghav, Lankesh and Janaki.
New Controversy
Now Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal has banned the release of Indian films. The all-out ban of Indian films by Kathmandu came as the Mayor of the capital city raised questions over the depiction of Sita in the film Adipurush.
Just recently, Kathmandu’s mayor Balen Shah posted a tweet following the uproar against Adipurush and wrote, “Until and unless the slogan ‘Janki is a daughter of India’ contained in the South Indian film ‘Adipurush’ is not true not only in Nepal but also in India, no Hindi film will be allowed to run in the Kathmandu Metropolitan City. 3 days have been given to correct this. Hail to Mother Sita.”
Reportedly, many theatres in Kathmandu and Pokhara have already started replacing Bollywood movies with Hollywood and Nepali ones. The makers have decided to mute the controversial dialogue but the film’s screening is still halted in the country. Adipurush’s dialogue writer Manoj Muntashir Shukla has also said that they have decided to revise some more of the dialogues after facing backlash.
