Deaflympics 2022: 1 Athlete of 10M hearing impaired Pakistanis

24th Caxias do Sul 2022 Deaflympics, Brazil are being played from May 1 to May 15 this year. 72 nations are participating in these deaflympics which are being played among the deaf athletes. According to the Deaflympics 2022 committee, around 2289 athletes are taking part in different games. Among them are 1540 male players and 749 female players as mentioned by the official website. Pakistan’s only one athlete is going to play in this years deaflympics.

Health of any nation lies in a fact that how much population has accessibility to physical activities. Pakistan being a developing countries is not giving importance to such activities. Every govt is paying as less attention in providing such healthy physical activities as they can do.

Every govt just focuses on Cricket as their priority, even though neglecting its national game Hockey. This trend is also seen in the Olympics games including indoor and outdoor games. Deaflympics are another example of such activities in which only 1 Pakistani athlete is playing out of about 10million deaf ( hearing impaired citizens) population of country.

Compared to the neighboring countries, Afghanistan’s 1, India’s 54 and Iran’s 58 athletes are participating in the Summer Deaflympics 2022. Brazil being highest with 192 athletes participating. Compared to the 23rd Samsun Deaflympics 2017, Pakistan had 11 athletes, which is now reduced to only 1 athlete this year’s Caxias do Sul 2022 Deaflympics.
