The race to appoint the next Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) is in full swing. The government has just over 30 hours to make its decision. The 26th Constitutional Amendment requires the government to appoint a new top judge three days before the current CJP, Qazi Faez Isa, retires on October 25, 2024. This means the government must finalize the appointment by October 22, at 12 a.m.
