Two New Teams to Join PSL in 2026 Season

Great news for Pakistani cricket fans! The Pakistan Super League (PSL) is adding two more teams starting in 2026, making it an even bigger tournament with eight teams. We don’t know yet which cities will get the new teams, but everyone is already guessing! Get ready for an awesome PSL in 2026!

The HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) is all set for some big changes. By 2026, the league will expand from six to eight teams, bringing more thrilling cricket action to fans. To accommodate this, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the current franchises have agreed to move the tournament to the April-May window.

the PCB stated:

“The PSL 2025 will be the last time that six teams will feature in the tournament. From PSL 2026, it has been planned to add two more teams.”

This new schedule means the PSL will run at the same time as the Indian Premier League (IPL). While this could affect the number of foreign players in the PSL, the PCB believes this is the best time because there’s less international cricket happening during these months.

we have no news on which cities are having their team in the PSL, but there are a lot of speculations roaming around. We have to wait for official announcements to get our hands on those new teams.

The final decision on these changes will be made in the next general council meeting of the PSL. The PCB is also exploring new venues, including the possibility of hosting some playoff matches and the final in England to attract more broadcasters and sponsors.

Additionally, the PCB is considering holding matches in Quetta and Peshawar, giving local fans the chance to see their favorite teams, the Gladiators and Zalmi, play at home. However, the PCB will prioritize security before confirming these venues.

In other exciting news, the PCB has offered to help franchise owners sign top players for multiple years and is discussing allowing each team to directly sign one additional player.

Stay tuned for more updates as the PSL gears up for an even bigger and better future!
