Babar Azam Breaks Record by Scoring 10,000 T20 Runs Fastest

Babar Azam made history by becoming the fastest cricketer to reach 10,000 runs in T20 cricket. He achieved this remarkable feat in just 271 innings, surpassing the previous record held by Chris Gayle (285 innings). Interestingly, he also beat out other batting greats like Virat Kohli (299 innings) and David Warner (303 innings).

Star cricketer Babar Azam from Pakistan has made history by becoming the world’s fastest player to reach 10,000 runs in T20 cricket. He achieved this remarkable milestone during a match between Peshawar Zalmi and Quetta Gladiators in the Pakistan Super League at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium. Azam is known for his elegant batting style and his ability to adapt to different situations on the field.

Azam, who leads the Peshawar Zalmi team, played an outstanding innings scoring 68 runs off 42 balls. Despite his impressive performance, Peshawar Zalmi fell short of the target set by Quetta Gladiators by 16 runs.

This achievement has propelled Babar Azam ahead of renowned T20 players like Chris Gayle and Virat Kohli, who previously held the record. Azam reached the milestone in just 271 innings, surpassing Gayle and Kohli’s tallies of 285 and 299 innings respectively. He is just the second Pakistani to do so, after Shoaib Malik.

The Pakistani batter scored his 10K runs by playing for teams like Colombo Strikers (Sri-Lanka), Guyana Amazon Warriors (Caribbean), Islamabad United (PSL), Rangpur Riders (Bangladesh), Sydney Sixers (Australia), Karachi Kings and Peshawar Zalmi (both PSL).

Azam’s exceptional performance not only makes him the 12th player to achieve this feat but also the first to score over 3000 runs in the Pakistan Super League, where he stands as the all-time leading scorer. He joins the likes of Chris Gayle, Shoaib Malik, Kieron Pollard, Alex Hales, David Warner, Virat Kohli, Aaron Finch, Rohit Sharma, Jos Buttler, Colin Munro, James Vince, and David Miller.

His consistent form bodes well for Pakistan as they prepare for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 in the USA and West Indies. Despite relinquishing his captaincy after Pakistan’s exit from the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, Azam remains a key player for the team.

Additionally, Azam’s recent innings also secured him the title of the only player to have scored over 2500 runs in the PSL. His contributions continue to elevate his stature in the world of cricket.
