Nokia 1100 and 1110 are best sellers of all time

The Nokia 1110 is one of the best and most durable mobile phones known to man. Launched in 2003, it came as a very simple handset. It was marketed toward consumers who did not require advanced features. With 250 million units sold, the Nokia 1100 is the best-selling consumer electronic device in the world.

Since its invention in 1983, the handheld mobile phone has truly conquered the world. Over 7 billion mobile phones have been sold all over the world ever since. This means that the number of sold mobile phones has reached around the same of number of human beings currently in existence. Nokia has ruled the world with its handy phone sets for a longer time. The motto “Connecting People” became a household name with a specific handset of nokia 1100 and nokia 1110.

The popularity of the mobile phone is perhaps only matched by the popularity of the car and the computer. Wherever there is a popular product, there is also a huge market. And the market for mobile phones is especially competitive with plenty of new phones being released each year.

While Apple’s iPhones and Samsung’s Galaxy range are now the market’s go-to handsets, analysts from online smartphone retailer, Mobiles.co.uk, have revealed the most popular phone since 2000 is the Nokia 1100.

The research took data from phone manufacturers from the year 2000 until now, looking at how many units of each handset have been sold since the year of release. According to the data, the 2003 Nokia 1100 model is the most successful, selling a total of 250 million units.

The incredibly affordable Nokia 1100 was introduced in 2003 and included a built-in flashlight along with a simple design and excellent battery life. It has a nice selection of ringtones and could store 50 text messages. Just like all Nokia devices, the 1100 is known for its durability. The dust-proof, slip-proof, and reasonably waterproof, Nokia 1100 became an instant hit as soon as it hit the market.

Nokia 1110

I am certain you remember this one, you probably owned one of these. This one was a favourite of many, myself included. I did not own one but I certainly did have enough around me to enjoy what it had to offer. Nokia 1110 sold over 250 million units, better than any other device released the same year as it.

Nokia’s 1110 model was directly inspired by the success of the 1100. It did offer some improved features compared to the 1100, like support for mp3 ringtones. But otherwise the 1110 was mostly similar to the 1100. It was also low-priced and therefore also especially targeted low-income households as well as low-income countries all around the world. Considering the Nokia 1110 was only produced for 2 years, from 2005 to 2007, its global sales number of 250 million is even more impressive than that of the 1100 model.
