Pakistan’s Talha Waheed has made history by breaking the world record for the most successful tennis serves in one minute. The Guinness World Records confirmed his achievement on Wednesday, recognizing his outstanding performance.
Waheed surpassed the previous record held by American John Perry, who set the mark at 42 serves in 2019. In his official attempt last November, Waheed managed an impressive 59 serves in just 60 seconds. The record was officially verified this week, bringing pride to Pakistan’s tennis community.
At 47 years old, Waheed has been a strong competitor in senior-level tennis, both nationally and internationally. He has claimed multiple national titles in the 35+, 40+, and 45+ doubles categories and has competed in International Tennis Federation (ITF) senior world ranking tournaments. His highest ranking in the 40+ doubles category was 144.
To achieve this record, Waheed followed a strict three-month training schedule. His attempt took place on November 8 in Lahore under the guidelines of the Guinness World Records team. On March 10, he received confirmation that he had officially set a new world record.
Appreciations are Pouring
Pakistan Tennis Federation President Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi praised Waheed’s accomplishment, calling it a major boost for tennis in the country. “Talha’s achievement is special, and making it into the Guinness World Records is no easy feat. This will encourage young players to push their limits and aim high,” Qureshi said.
Guinness World Records, known globally for recognizing extraordinary achievements, was first established in 1955. Since then, it has documented countless records across various fields, from sports to unique human feats.
Waheed’s success has sparked excitement in the tennis community, with many hoping it will bring more attention to the sport in Pakistan. His record-breaking effort is a proud moment for the nation and a testament to the dedication and skill required to achieve such an incredible feat.
